You can make mistakes and keep going; FLOW with your creativity!
My editor recently went through my blogs looking for errors. It turns out that 6, my favorite number, is how many errors I make, almost every time I write a blog!
Let me say especially to the men, you need a good woman. As a married man, I'm saying this because my wife is the person I trust the most in my life. She edits me. This is not just my opinion, ask God.
She is also my editor for much of my content. She reads faster, and reads much more than me. She also studied art AND English, with high grades. On top of all that, she puts up with me and likes to keep track of my mistakes. Everything you need in a good editor!
And she has no problem letting me know when I am wrong, or even when I MIGHT be wrong. That is a good thing!
People who work with me know that I can get into a creative flow of ideas, solutions, strategy, vision, and productivity. For me it's not holding onto one idea and one project, I'm building myutimedia solutions and programming systems and designing sites to communicate a concept.
I love to blast through good ideas. Don't slow me down with spelling or grammar when I'm typing! Don't text me, or update me with a reminder when I'm in the groove and flow! I'm five steps ahead of even myself, and if you interrupt me,… then it's all gone.
Like a train, I have to start over again to build up momentum.
It's why I skip lunch, often. That's a time when everyone else gets busy, or leaves the office, and I can get something done.
There are some great studies on "flow state", how you get into it, how long it takes to get it back after an interruption, and how creative people can take advantage of flow in our lives.
But, back to my original idea of making mistakes; when I flow I make lots of mistakes. I usually don't even see them at the time. But the mistakes don't matter. If I let them bother me, I wouldn't get the creative tasks done!
The Flow State
For me,
And why do I like the number six? Biblically it's the number of man, and it is just short of the number seven which represents completeness. But I'm very interested in people, I create knowing full well it's not complete, but but
And on a more nerdy and personal note, the number six has been my favorite for a long time because it can be easily divided into half OR in thirds, and it's just a good looking number. Plus, it's nice to say, not like TWELVE. And then there is something about coming to the sixth day and realizing I can look forward to what I've earned—a rest. Yes, the anticipation of day off is actually more enjoyable than the rest itself sometimes.
And that day of rest is a Sabath. It's a day of completeness, wholeness, when the edits are finally made. Day seven is the day to turn and look at my creation and say, "It's good". I don't meen to be sacriligious here. I want to be like God. I want to get to the end of a week and look back on everything i've done and rest. Isn't that the pattern God made for us? Doesn't that take us from a six to a seven? from an incomplete creation, into wholeness?
